Grinding and milling of sprocket wheels

1、Grind teeth

Grinding is the most effective and reliable method to obtain high precision gears. Developed countries use hardened gears, and gear grinding has become the main processing method for high-precision gears. At present, the accuracy of grinding teeth by disc grinding wheel and large plane grinding wheel can reach DIN2 level, but the efficiency is very low. Worm grinding wheel grinding accuracy up to DIN3~4, high efficiency, suitable for medium and small modulus gear grinding, but the grinding wheel correction is more complicated. The main problem of gear grinding is low efficiency and high cost, especially for large size gears. Therefore, to improve the efficiency of gear grinding and reduce the cost is the main research direction at present. New technologies in gear grinding in recent years are:

(a) Double-sided grinding method;

(b) Efficient grinding of teeth with cubic boron nitride grinding wheels;

(c) Continuous profile grinding technology and ultra-high speed grinding technology.

2、Milling of teeth

Milling is a forming methodGearThe cut-off shape of the tool is the same as the shape of the slot of the gear being machined, and the tool is fed in the direction of the slot of the gear, after milling one slot and indexing the gear being machined, the second slot is milled, and the pitch of the gear is controlled by indexing. As the shape of the gear slot is related to the number of gear teeth, correction amount, and even tooth thickness tolerance, it is difficult to achieve the same shape of the tool teeth and the machined gear slot, in fact, most of the milled teeth are approximate tooth shape. For large modulus gears, the productivity of milling is high and milling is widely used for rough cutting.
