What to do if the speed reducer shows signs of oil leakage?

Repair methods for oil leaks in speed reducers
Common methods for managing oil leaks in speed reducer equipment include adjustment, tightening, unblocking, sealing, plugging, repair, replacement, and modification.
(1) Adjustment method: By adjusting the oil pressure of the hydraulic lubrication system, the system pressure is reduced, and the sliding bearing is adjusted to reduce the clearance between the bearing hole and the journal, so as to reduce leakage caused by excessive overflow throughout the equipment. Adjust the oil scraping device, such as the looseness, tightness, height, and position of the felt, to overcome the oil leakage problem caused by the failure of the oil scraping device. In the process of repairing leaks, the first thing to consider is to repair leaks through adjustment. Only on the basis of the correct cooperation between the relevant parts can other methods be adopted for management. S-series reducer
(2) Tightening method: Tightening the screws, nuts, pipe joints, etc. at the leaking parts can eliminate the oil leakage caused by loose connections. During the leak repair process, attention should be paid to checking the tightness of each connection. In routine maintenance, operators should also pay attention to this issue and tighten any loose parts immediately to prevent oil leakage or other unexpected problems and accidents.
(3) Unblocking method: Ensuring unobstructed return oil flow is an important way to manage oil leaks. If the return oil hole is too small, poorly laid out, or blocked by dirt, it should be enlarged in time, the dirt should be removed, and the blockage should be cleared, or a new return oil groove pipeline should be added. Unblocking the oil circuit reduces the chance of lubricating oil leakage.
(4) Sealing method: For pipe joints, sealing glue can be applied to the seams of the box body to seal and tighten them, thereby eliminating leakage. The sealing method for leak repair is simple, effective, low-cost, and widely applicable. Generally, factories with 70-80 % equipment can use the sealing method for leak repair at different levels.
(5) Repair method: For example, if the contact surface of the cover is not tight, it should be scraped and repaired. When oil leakage occurs at the pipe joint due to an unsuitable flared end of the oil pipe, the flared end of the oil pipe should be repaired. Sometimes, when components of the hydraulic lubrication control system have burrs, scratches, or deformation, they may cause external or internal oil leakage. Usually, when the problem is not serious, the oil leakage fault caused by this situation can be eliminated by repair method.
(6) Leakage sealing method: For castings with sand holes or through holes, sealing can be used to fix leaks. For example, using epoxy resin to seal sand holes or drilled screw holes in the housing is quite effective. Other sealing methods include using lead blocks or similar materials. F-series reducers
(7) Replacement method: When the oil leakage of the equipment is due to wear of the seals or damage to related parts that cannot be repaired, replacement should be carried out. When replacing parts, attention should be paid to ensuring that the new replacement parts and related parts maintain proper fit. This is to prevent the original oil leakage problem from being solved and a new oil leakage problem from appearing.
(8) Modification method: In the process of repairing leaks, it is sometimes necessary to improve the sealing material, change the fastening method, change the lubricating medium, change the return oil position, and improve the leak prevention method in order to eliminate the leakage phenomenon in the equipment. There are many ways to repair leaks using the modification method. Generally, care should be taken not to affect the normal operation of the equipment, and not to damage the original strength and rigidity of the equipment. This issue should be paid special attention to when using methods such as adding an oil return groove, expanding screw holes, or adding an oil receiving tray.
