\n\tChain drives are frequently used in transmission system design, with roller chains being the primary focus of design calculations. Based on the national standard GB\/T 1243 and relevant industry standards, the following design requirements for roller chains are summarized. These requirements can be used as a reference for non-standard designs.<\/p>\n
\n\t1. Chain drives always require chain boxes, and their internal clearance must be sufficient. Because chain elongation from wear is concentrated on the slack side, a drooping chain can strike the bottom of the chain box, damaging both the box and the chain. Therefore, in addition to providing adequate chain sag clearance, at least 76mm should be added around the chain perimeter, and there should be 19mm clearance on each side of the chain. (This is especially important when the chain box's dimensions are limited by space.)<\/p>\n
\n\t2. The chain elongation is compensated by tensioning measures, and the idle sag is less than the center distance 1%.<\/p>\n
\n\t3. When the chain drive direction is tilted at an angle greater than 60\u00b0 to the horizontal plane, a tensioning device must be used to tension the chain.<\/p>\n
\n\t4. The minimum number of teeth on the sprocket is 17. When operating at medium to high speeds or within the maximum permissible load range, the small sprocket teeth should be hardened, and the number of teeth should ideally be 21. The maximum number of teeth on the sprocket is 150. Preferably select the number of teeth from 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 38, 57, 76, 95, and 114.<\/p>\n
\n\t5. The optimal center distance for chain drives is 30 to 50 times the chain pitch, and the minimum wrap angle of the small sprocket is 120\u00b0.<\/p>\n
\n\t6. When the roller chain is running at extremely low speed or under dynamic load, without considering centrifugal force, the value of the dynamic tensile force shall not exceed 0.15 times the minimum breaking force.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
