1、The following 7 conditions should be grasped when choosing roller chain

2、Determine the use factor

Depending on the machinery to be driven and the type of prime mover, the usage coefficients are determined by the usage coefficient table (Table 1).

3、Determine the compensation transmission power (kW)

Compensate the power transmission (kW) using the usage factor.

E compensating power transmission (kW) for K single row chain = power transmission (kW)

M usage factor

When K multi-row chain

E according to the multi-column system 

4. Select the number of teeth of chain and sprocket

5. Select the number of teeth of the large sprocket

6. Check the shaft diameter

7. Axis distance of the sprocket wheel

8. Calculate the length of the chain and the center distance between the shafts of the sprockets

Lp : Length of chain expressed in number of links

N1 : Number of teeth of large sprocket

N2 : Number of teeth of the small sprocket

Cp: Center distance between shafts in terms of number of links: ≈ 3.14

(1) Calculation of the chain length (when the number of teeth N1 and N2 of the sprocket wheel and the center distance Cp between the shafts are determined)

*Please round up the values below the decimal point of Lp.

(2) The number of teeth N1, N2 and chain length Lp are determined. When the number of teeth N1 and N2 of the sprocket and the chain length Lp are determined)
